Treading
How
clearly this is echoed in the first image that we
have drawn for you from the I Ching Oracle. Thus,
the verse that is highlighted specifically for
you from the image of Treading says, “He
treads on the tail of the tiger. Caution and
circumspection lead ultimately to good
fortune.” As Richard Wilhelm in his
interpretation of this verse has explained,
“This text refers to a dangerous enterprise.
The inner power to carry it through is there, but
this inner power is combined with hesitating
caution in one’s external attitude.”
There may be something incompatible between you
and your prospective partner that is not apparent
to you at this time. However, it is important NOW
for you to be very objective and detached in your
evaluation of the person in question. One of the
central verses connected with the image of
Treading says, “The image of Treading. Thus
the superior man discriminates between high and
low.” There is a need for very honest
self-appraisal at the same time. After all, the
image of Treading here is in the process of
changing into Inner Truth. Based on what you've
said explicitly in your Reading Request, it is
apparent that your heart and soul are telling you
that the obstacles to further progress in your
business do NOT rest on the need for a partner,
and we would add our own intuition that those
obstacles won’t necessarily be removed by a
partner. Even with a partner, you may find
yourself in the same boat you’re in now. The
trick is to find the RIGHT solution, not a false
one.
It is
also worth pointing out, by the way, that Inner
Truth in other ways tends to confirm what has
been said above. The central verse associated
with this image says, “The image of Inner
Truth. Thus the superior man discusses criminal
cases in order to delay executions.” The
phrase “criminal cases” implies
something beyond what is at stake here at this
time. Perhaps the oracle chooses this terminology
in order to impress upon you the seriousness of
what is being considered. In any case, it tends
to echo our concern for the legal structure of
the agreements you envision between you and your
partner, which as we said require much more study
and reflection. Moreover, we would direct your
attention to the verse that is highlighted
specifically for you by this Reading from the
image of Inner Truth. It says, “The team
horse goes astray.” This speaks very
directly to the potential outcome in this
particular proposed partnership.
