The Images (Hexagrams) of the I Ching Oracle in Psychic Readings

Psychic Readings from The Psychic Internet often feature images drawn from the I Ching Oracle. To offer supplementary information about these images for our clients, and for the public, we have provided this archive of brief articles.

The abstract images of the I Ching Oracle (usually called "hexagrams") symbolize all of the related and interacting aspects of reality. In the following excerpts from actual Psychic Readings, the images of the I Ching are discussed.

The Taming Power of the Small

When the quoted verse is highlighted as it is in this Reading, the image of The Creative tends to undergo a transformation into the image of The Taming Power of the Small. The name of this second image might also be translated into English as “Small Accumulating,” or “Nurturance by the Small.” From the context of this image, the oracle says to you in one of its verses, “If you are sincere, blood vanishes and fear gives way. No blame.” The emphasis is on simple truth here. A kind of restraint is expressed through this image. Great power is built up through littleness, in the same way as dense clouds build up under the influence of the winds. Yet, in a hint of how the forthcoming year will unfold for you, with respect to your career and finances, the judgment of the oracle for this image is as follows: “The Taming Power of the Small has success. Dense clouds, no rain from our western region.”

The oracle also suggests a general approach to your situation as it unfolds. It says, “The wind drives across heaven. The image of The Taming Power of the Small. Thus the superior man refines the outward aspect of his nature.” Once again, Richard Wilhelm’s commentary provides a concise view of this situation. He says, “The wind can indeed drive the clouds together in the sky; yet, being nothing but air, without solid body, it does not produce great or lasting effects. So also an individual, in times when he can produce no great effect in the outer world, can do nothing except refine the expression of his nature in small ways.”

To summarize, realize the great creative power that supports you in your endeavors. We like to describe this as “the support of nature.” Yet, be also aware that simple and quiet perseverance will be needed in the months ahead. Great progress will not be made in your external circumstances. But the power is accumulating little by little, until a great raining down of rewards will happen, all in due time. Faith is the keyword. With it, you will make the transition from a position of uncertainty to a position of profound personal realization.
