Darkening of the Light

In the image of Darkening of the Light, which we have drawn for you from our I Ching Oracle, the ancient Chinese classic that is also known as the Book of Changes, the message can hardly be mistaken. Another translation of the name for this image might be “Injury,” and you may need to consider if this is exactly what you are doing to yourself by remaining in this relationship. Confucius said about this image, “The light has sunk into the earth. Beautiful and clear within, gentle and devoted without, hence exposed to great adversity. Surrounded by difficulties in the midst of his closest kin, nonetheless keeping his will fixed on the right.”

In the central verse associated with the image of Darkening of the Light, the oracle says, “Thus does the superior person live: she veils her light, yet still shines.” There is something so very beautiful in you. Set it free. Share your light with people who know how to appreciate its great beauty and warmth. Don’t keep it bottled up inside you because of a failed relationship.
