Technique: A Powerful New Tool for Health Imagine for a moment a healing modality that, in less than 10 years, has become a highly valued method of more than 20,000 medical doctors, massage therapists, psychologists, and other members of the healing professions in dozens of countries. Imagine, further, that no surgery, drugs or equipment are needed. There is such a healing modality: Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). Practitioners worldwide have marveled at its simplicity and rapid means of healing. It has been clinically effective in thousands of cases for physical symptoms, trauma, stress, anxiety, fears, depression, addictive cravings and more. Many skilled practitioners get measurable results over 80% of the time. In addition, the process is often rapid, gentle, and long lasting, and it is easy for anyone to learn. The simple act of tapping on a series of acupuncture points on the face, torso and hands and repeating reminder phrases, while connecting with an unhelpful emotion, memory or behavior can initiate a cascade of healthy neurological, chemical, emotional, cognitive and physical effects. Tapping on the acupuncture points and verbalizing will alter the brains electrical/chemical system, bringing a rapid reduction in the severity of the problem. WOULD YOU LIKE TO: *Overcome fear, guilt, shame or anger? *Change unwanted habits and behaviors? *Enhance your ability to love, success and enjoy life? Rosemary has created several ways in which you can
learn and benefit from E.F.T. "I have always had a fear of flying. Probably learned from hearing the news of plane crashes etc., and also some scarey experiences on several flights. I have also always flown a lot and have never gotten over the "fear" feeling. I have resorted to using medications to calm me or a drink or two on the plane. Not a good solution because along with the lost sleep from the worry and anxiety prior to flying, I would be totally exhausted for days. I have also left bruises on my husbands arms, and have even grabbed a stranger or two. Pathetic! I learned about EFT from Rosemary Manning, and was interested not because of my fear of flying, but to use as a tool to enhance my performance as an athlete. I attended a session and believed in the theory and ease of using the tool of "tapping". We were asked to practice a tapping session while in the seminar, and my partner and I found a common fear of flying. So we persued addressing that issue or fear. I practiced the EFT prior to a recent back to back flight, and used the "private" method of tapping my karate chop spot while on the plane. And crazy, but, I actually fell asleep during take off, and the entire flight. I did not bruise anyones arm, and obviously arrived safely! I have passed on my experience and encouraged several friends who experience migraines or the fear of flying or some other "thing" they carry around with them, to attend a session. I will absolutely be taking the other seminars offered in 2008! It is empowering!" M.P., South Lake Tahoe, CA "Having been familiar with EFT for approx 2 years
via the internet (Dr. Mercola) I was already interested
in the concept and had investigated some of the on-line
video demonstrations. However, Rosemary's class has put
everything together in a very easy to understand and
utilize system that was missing with just reading about
or watching the method. I have successfully used it for

It seems so simple that it doesn't sound like a logical way to rid oneself of phobias, fears and anxiety. Nonetheless, people throughout the South Shore and beyond are turning to Emotional Freedom Technique for relief. Rosemary Manning, a certified massage therapist with a master's degree in clinical psychology, and psychologist Catherine Aisner offer the technique locally. Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT, combines conversation with tapping on some of the body's 14 meridians and 670 acupressure points to essentially change the flow of energy through the body. "I don't know biologically how it works, but it's wonderful," said Zib Babbitt, who lives on the outskirts of South Lake. "It changes the polarity and energy in the body. It really has helped me in a couple different situations." Her main issue is food cravings, where she can get in a rut that leads to depression. "(EFT) helps me to refocus," Babbitt said. "It's very refreshing Emotional Freedom Technique was discovered by Gary Craig of Stanford University. His website, www.efofree.com, is full of testimonials, research, videos and documentation about the effects of EFT. "Simply stated, it is an emotional version of acupuncture except needles aren't necessary," the website explains. "Instead, you stimulate well established energy meridian points on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips. The process is easy to memorize and is portable so you can do it anywhere." The two local practitioners know EFT won't cure all that ails a person, but it can ease the symptoms. "This is not something that it going to fix everyone's problems in one session. It is definitely a shortcut," Aisner said. "It's so good at reducing pain and helping people balance their emotions that they can deal with whatever problems they have with a more clear head and more calmness." For example, divorce. EFT won't make the break-up go away, but it can help with the emotional impact. Manning uses the technique on massage clients with their permission, people seeking help without massage being part of the equation, as well as on some skeptics. Denise Sloan Smart was one of those people who initially thought the notion of EFT was a little out there and doubted it could work. She and Manning met at a Barton University class Manning was teaching at which she mentioned the EFT class she will be leading in May and June. Smart's issue was crabs -- the ones you eat. She ate the crustaceans her entire life until a few years ago when friends unknowingly gave her one that was totally black inside. "It scared the hell out of me to the point I ran out of the house," Smart said. "Ever since then I won't go near the seafood section of the grocery story." She even stopped going to annual crab feeds. Through talking with Manning, Smart was able to figure out her fear of crabs stemmed to that episode in her kitchen. "I do the tapping in the car for about a minute and talk to myself -- (saying) this is totally irrational, it's frozen, dead and not going to hurt you and I'm OK," Smart said of her jaunts to the grocery store now. "I am probably ready to go buy a crab, crack it open and enjoy the heck out of it." Smoking is one of the more difficult addictions to rid a person of because of the physiological and psychological nature of it. But Manning is convinced after a several sessions EFT can help. Not all fears are curable through EFT. "If the fear is to protect you, you can't get rid of it," Manning said, citing the example that being afraid during a bank robbery is normal. She would like to see the armed forces implement EFT to help combat veterans address issues when they return. Manning said the Green Cross Assistance program, which was formed after the April 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, uses EFT in its counseling and trauma recovery efforts. Although Manning and Aisner believe anyone can do EFT on themselves with some training, both recommend talking with a professional first.
